Start cold and disconnected
Unplug the toaster and allow it to cool completely. Move it to a clear surface and identify the crumb tray in the manual. Never insert metal tools into the slots or try to scrape the elements to remove stubborn food.
Use the removable parts
Empty and clean the tray as instructed, then ensure it is dry and correctly fitted before use. Wipe the exterior with the approved method, keeping moisture out of openings. Do not immerse the toaster or shake it aggressively in an attempt to reach hidden crumbs.
Prevent the next problem
Use bread and accessories allowed by the manufacturer. Sticky toppings or unsuitable bags can leave residue or introduce hazards. If food is stuck, the cord is damaged or there is persistent unusual smoke, stop and follow the manufacturer’s guidance rather than forcing another cycle.
