Define the connection you need

Check whether the destination offers Ethernet, Wi-Fi with a sign-in page or only mobile reception. Compare those requirements with the travel router’s supported operating modes. A small router cannot use every type of login or upstream connection in the same way.

Prepare at home

Update the device, change default management credentials and test it with your own equipment. Save the setup instructions offline. Keep the power adapter and required cables together and verify electrical compatibility for the destination without improvising adapters.

Use it responsibly

Follow the venue’s terms and employer security requirements. Treat the upstream network as untrusted and use supported security tools for sensitive work. After the trip, remove saved venue networks and check that any temporary sharing settings are no longer enabled.
